"Reverse: 1999" is a turn-based tactical role-playing game developed by Bluepoch, released globally on October 26, 2023.
[The game is available on iOS, Android, and Windows platforms. ]
Setting and Storyline
The narrative unfolds in a universe where magic, known as Arcanum, coexists with humanity. Arcanists, individuals capable of wielding Arcanum, often face discrimination. On December 31, 1999, a mysterious event termed "the Storm" causes time periods from the 20th century to shift unpredictably, leading to the disappearance of people and objects—a phenomenon referred to as being "reversed."
Players assume the role of Vertin, the Timekeeper from the St. Pavlov Foundation, an organization dedicated to studying and controlling Arcanists for humanity's benefit and countering the Storm's effects. Vertin, naturally immune to the Storm, leads a team through various historical eras to prevent the Manus Vindictae—a rival faction seeking to exploit the Storm to eliminate humans and mixed-blood Arcanists—from achieving their goals.
Gameplay Mechanics
"Reverse: 1999" features strategic, turn-based combat centered around a card system. Players can select up to 4 Arcanists, each possessing unique passive skills, two incantation cards, and one ultimate card. During battles, players start with a hand of 7–8 incantation cards and can play a number of cards equal to the active Arcanists on the field. Combining identical cards upgrades their effects, enhancing damage and other attributes. Accumulating "Moxie" through card usage allows characters to unleash powerful ultimate skills.
Gacha system
In Reverse: 1999, the gacha system lets players summon characters using currencies like Unilog and Clear Drops. Rates include 1.5% for 6-star characters and 8.5% for 5-stars, with pity guaranteeing a 6-star after 70 pulls. Limited banners feature rate boosts and guarantee the featured 6-star within two pulls. Duplicate characters unlock passive abilities, enhancing gameplay.
Availability
"Reverse: 1999" is free to play and can be downloaded from the App Store for iOS devices, Google Play Store for Android devices, and Steam for Windows PCs.
